The admin and moderation team works to maintain a fair and respectful environment for all members. While we are open to feedback, disputes must be handled in a civil manner.
Guidelines:
- If you disagree with an admin decision, do not argue about it in the comments. Instead, send a private message to the admins for clarification.
- Public complaints about admins or moderators will be removed.
- Rude or aggressive behavior toward admins may result in removal from the group.
- Blocking an admin or moderator is not allowed. Periodically, we check for blocked admins/mods, and those who have done so will be removed (but not banned) from the group and must rejoin.
Example of a proper approach:
“Hi, I noticed my post was removed, and I’d like to understand why. Can you clarify?”
Example of an improper approach:
“The admins here are horrible! They delete everything they don’t like!” → This kind of post will be removed, and repeated behavior may result in removal from the group.
We are always open to constructive feedback. If you have a suggestion to improve the group, please reach out privately. Contact us here: https://emcc.me/chat
The First Amendment
We fully support open discussion and believe that everyone has the right to their own viewpoints. Differing perspectives are valuable—they help us communicate, exchange ideas, and better understand each other. That’s why respectful discussion is so important.
That said, the First Amendment applies to government restrictions on speech, not private spaces like this group. The Supreme Court confirmed this in Manhattan Community Access Corp. v. Halleck (2019), ruling that private platforms aren’t required to allow all speech just because they host discussions. Just like a business owner can set rules for their space, we have the right to establish guidelines here to keep conversations productive and respectful.
Having a variety of viewpoints is welcome, but that doesn’t mean all content will be allowed—especially if it violates group rules. Moderation isn’t about silencing opinions; it’s about making sure discussions remain constructive and aligned with the purpose of this group.
We appreciate everyone’s contributions and willingness to engage thoughtfully. Let’s keep sharing ideas, learning from one another, and maintaining a space where meaningful conversations can thrive!
